About
My research uses practice-led design research to investigate the use of digital media to support independent learning and addresses the problems of professional skills learning and transmission of tacit knowledge.
It engages simultaneously with the two problems of what is to be learned and how it will be learned and brings together experienced practitioners, learners and designer in hybrid activities that provide an arena for generating understanding of skilled practice, embodied in learning materials rather than stated explicitly in formal conclusions.
I make extensive use of video recording in my practice and am currently exploring the use of video both as a means of observation for research and as a means of disseminating research.
